89th Anniversary of the Sinking of “Baron Gautsch”

Rovinj – The Town Authorities of Rovinj and the Rovinj Tourist Association in cooperation with the Diver Sport Center, organized yesterday, on August 13, eighty-nine years to the day when the Austro-Hungarian steam ship “Baron Gautsch” suffered a severe damage and sank, a memorial dive and laying of laurels on the shipwreck. The memorial event took place six nautical miles south-west of St. John’s Lighthouse out in the open sea where the steamship turned into the minefield and sank eighty-nine years ago. The celebration was preceded by a press conference attended by the representatives of the Tourist Association, the Town Authorities and the Diver Sport Center together with the employees of the Port Authority Office and Jadranko Antulovic, assistant to the Ministry of Culture...

The summer carnival, held in St. Euphemia’s town for the third time in a row, organized by “Vita vitae” travel agency from Rovinj, deserved nothing but praise this time. The only beaches and marinas entitled to put out the flag are the ones that fulfill numerous demanding criteria regarding quality of sea and coast, environmental upbringing, education and public informing, environment management, safety and services.

SPRINT TRIATLON ROVINJ 2003

11th consecutive Sprint Triathlon in Rovinj was traditionally held again this year, organized by Triathlon Club Rovinj and Croatian Triathlon Association. Start and finish lines of the race were in Lona bay, near ACI Marina and Park Hotel, and around 50 atheletes from Croatia, Slovenia and Italy participated.
