Stage Production Depicting the Beginnings of Tourism in Rovinj
As part of "Rovinj Nights", a traditional ballet, play and opera performance " A Night of Love under the Stars" was given at the Monte Summer Stage this year as well. This stage production is based on Josip Fola's book "The Beginnings of Tourism in Rovinj". It is directed by Robert Raponja in a funny manner which makes it closer to the viewers. The actresses Jadranka Djokic and Selena Mimic from the Istrian National Theatre give the performance a special charm and help bring it closer to the audience. Tatjana Suput arranged the dramaturgy. Barytone singer Ronald Braus and soprano singer Andreja Kovacic sang accompanied by the Salon Orchestra from Pula. The dancing part of the performance was performed by ballet dancers Saulja Ashimova and Svebor Secak.
In this stage production the actors, singers and ballet dancers depicted the time of Baron Huetterott and Count Milevski. They took a walk in the 50s when many people both from Zagreb and Belgrade used to spend their summer holidays in Rovinj. The also visited the 90s when tourism in Rovinj practically died on account of the war in Croatia, and they looked back upon last year's storm which devastated 90% of the beautiful vegetation of the neighbouring islands. They also announced that the tourism in Rovinj will prosper in the years to come.
A true and genuine Croatian music star Tereza Kesovija, who was an honorary guest at the performance "A Night of Love under the Stars", sent greetings to the people of Rovinj, wished them well and congratulated them on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Tourist Association of Rovinj.
