Director of the Museum Argeo Curto used this festive occasion to remind of the important people and events in the history of the Museum, and to point out that “the museum has come a long way since the beginning when it started as the Museum Collection, through the time when it was known as the Town Museum till today when it became The Native Museum of the Town of Rovinj.”
“The Museum of Rovinj was founded in 1954 on the initiative of the artists. Their idea was that the museum should be the place where cultural riches would be collected and stored, and where rich exhibition activities would be held. The founders’ wishes have determined the activities of the museum to this very day,” said Curto at the festive session.
Zora Matic Monography was presented on this festive occasion. The monography was written and composed by Iva Kobler who found inspiration in the life and paintings of this famous painter of Rovinj. According to her, Zora Matic undoubtedly belongs to the group of the most famous expressionist-existentialist painters in our after-war painting period of the last century. “Zora Matic managed to bring into harmony two courses of creation: commercial, lovable, and, most importantly, the artistic one. For this exceptional skill she was invited to participate at the various European exhibitions, and was called “the ambassador of Rovinj”, says Iva Kobler.
