Rovinj – Host of 17th Eurofestival of (Sports) Recreation
The Town of Rovinj will be the host of the 17th Eurofestival of (Sports)
Recreation which will be held in 2009. In a very strong competition of
the towns that applied as candidates for hosting the event, Rovinj won
in the first round of election held on May 22 in Zurich among the towns
of Finnish Lahti, German Hamburg, and Czech Prague.
“After the first round of election Rovinj won with overwhelming results
so that there was no need of holding another round of election. More
than once Rovinj has shown that it is a town of sportsmen and a good
host of many sporting events and competitions, so that I do not doubt
that this time too we shall be up to the challenge of the task entrusted
to us”, said Dario Cinic, Director of the Tourist Association of Rovinj
commenting on this great achievement of the town of Rovinj and its citizens.
Along with Dario Cinic, the delegation of Rovinj in Zurich was headed
by Mayor Giovanni Sponza. The winning team also included the most important
people who contributed to the election of Rovinj as the host of such
a big manifestation – Honorary President and President of the Croatian
Federation for (Sports) Recreation “Sport for All” Mirko Relac and Vladimir
Findak.
