of Croatian Sports Recreation Union Give Press Conference
Rovinj Deserved to host 17th Eurofestival
On the occasion of being chosen to host the 17th Sports Recreation Eurofestival
that will be held in Rovinj in 2009, a press conference was held, where leaders
of the Croatian Sports Recreation Union "Sport za sve" (Sport for All),
Dr. Vladimir Findak and Dr. Mirko Relac thanked everyone who had put in efforts
to place the biggest European recreation event in St. Euphemia’s town. As it
happens, in a strong competition of three European cities – Hamburg, Prague and
Lahtia, Finland – Rovinj won with a large majority and became the host of the
sporting event for the second time after 1989.
President of the Croatian Sports Recreation Union, Dr. Vladimir Findak thanked Mr. Mirko Relac, spiritus movens of the whole project, who had prepared a survey on Rovinj’s candidacy, and paid special compliments to the officers of the Tourist Association who had, he pointed out, mercilessly engaged in promotion of the project. He also thanked representatives of the Town, tourist industry, as well to President Stjepan Mesić who expressed his support to the Croatian delegation during their recent visit to Zurich.
Beside the leaders of the Croatian Sports Recreation Union, Giovanni Sponza, Rovinj mayor, also attended the press conference, and once again said that Rovinj would build the lacking bowling alley within deadline, and promised that the year 2009 will be inscribed in golden letters as the most successful one in the history of Eurofestival.
