Rovinj Citizens Fascinated by Giro d’Italia
The participants of one of the most famous bicycle races in the world Giro d’Italia rode fast through Rovinj on Friday around 4 pm . It was a nice and sunny day. The gathering of a great number of people and guests who greeted the bicyclists with applause created an unforgettable and festive atmosphere.
In their wish to support and encourage the participants of Giro d’Italia, the citizens of Rovinj tried to get the best spots along the route during the hour before the expected arrival of the bicyclists in order to see the great sportsmen from a close distance. The brass band and the VIP band entertained the gathered crowd until the arrival of the bicyclists to Rovinj.
A minute after 4 pm the first three bicyclists came down Carducci Street and the Square on Lokva. The guests who were gathered in front of the tobacco factory greeted them with applause. Three minutes later the same happened when the rest of the bicyclists came in a bigger group. In spite of the great number of people and thanks to luck and efforts of more than a hundred police officers and firemen, the Rovinj route of the Giro d’ Italia passed in the best possible way, without incidents.
