“FOLLOWING THE TRACES OF VENICE”

In spite of the attention and admiration of more than a hundred thrilled visitors that Giorgio Ferraris and his fantastic medieval “instrumental artillery” quite deservedly earned, the main attraction of the first evening of the Old Music Festival was nevertheless, in keeping with the good old tradition, a beautiful, funny, and this Saturday a very charismatic woman - Silvia Piccollo, a soprano.

Rovinj Fiamita Launched

In the presence of a great number of people of Rovinj and their guests, if not the most famous than at least the youngest and the most attractive batana (a traditional flat-bottomed boat) was launched into the sea. Mladen Takač, the master of the art, built it working every night from July 13 in front of the museum called Kuće o batani.

Biggest Classical Sailing Ship in Rovinj

After introducing the biggest, modern, French Club Med 2 sailing ship, Rovinj introduced to its fleet the Royal Clipper, recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest classical sailboat.

SUPERCONTATO MEGA SHOW HELD

The Radio Company mega show called Supercontato organized at the main town square fulfilled all expectations. The numerous audience had the pleasure to see a five-hour-long free-of-charge live program.

The Tourist Association of Rovinj in cooperation with the Maistra Tourist Agency organized a traditional Ronald Braus and Guests Concert for the fifth year in a row on Assumption day this year.

40TH ISTRIAN FOLK MUSIC AND DANCE FESTIVAL HELD

This weekend, the picturesque Rovinj hosted the jubilar 40th Istrian Folk Music and Dance Festival. 280 performers including 10 folk ensembles, several women’s vocal groups and 50 individuals, performed at the town’s waterfront on a stage specially decorated in ethno style.

The Tourist Association of Rovinj in cooperation with the Diver Sport Center organized this year yet another memorial dive in honor of the 91st anniversary of the sinking of the Austro-Hungarian steamship Baron Gautsch.

At this year's Fine Arts Colony 2005, the artist Ljiljana Vlačić won the first prize from the Rovinj Town Museum, while Aleksandar Garbin, also an artist, won the second prize.

Zdravka, Natalija and Josipa's colourful kaleidoscope

As part of the art program of the town of Rovinj, this year's third exhibit presenting a sculpture, which is the joint work of three young and talented final year students from the Zagreb School of Fine Arts – Zdravka Ivandija, Natalija Škalić and Josipa Štefanec, has been opened at St. Thomas’ Church.
