ORCHESTRE DE FLUTES FRANCAIS (OFF)

Members of Orchestre de flutes Francais, the first flute orchestra in
Europe established in 1995, gave a performance at an occasional concert
at the Franciscan convent.
OFF was established by the members of the Arcadia Quartet - Pierre Yves
Artaud, Arlette Biget, Pierre Alain Biget and Pascal Ravez. The instruments
include the whole flute family, from piccolo flute to octobass, while
the repertoire encompasses various transcriptions of both classical music
pieces and contemporary composers' compositions, ordered specially for
this ensemble.
For
their presentation in Rovinj, the members of OFF played Doppler's «Andante
and Rondo» for two flutes and flute orchestra, Roussel's «Joueurs de
flauta» for flute and flute orchestra, and Camp's «La tempesta», also
a piece for flute and flute orchestra.
This was followed by an interpretation of Čop's «Imagine», a fantasy
for flute orchestra and piano, Kuljerić's «Folk art III» for piano and
flute orchestra, and Tairo's «Flautissimo» for flute orchestra. Under
the baton of conductor Pierre Alain Biget, the performance of soloists
Pierre Yves Artaud, Metod Sironić and Martina Mičija particularly stood
out.
