Istrian Sommelier, Pizzaioli, Barmen and Flambeau Contest
An award giving ceremony marked coming of an end of the second Taste
of Istria gastro-show in Rovinj. The Committee of Judges selected the
best sommeliers, pizzaiolas, barmen and flambeau among seventy contestants
during this two-day competition.

The winner of the barmen category contest for schools and
companies was Sandi Poropat of Vocational School Eugen Kumiči from Rovinj,
while Antoaneta Došenović, wine shop and bar “Bachus” also from Rovinj,
took first in the tradesmen category.
Antonella
Pauluzzi and Ranka Ivanković, students from the School of Economics, and Čaba
Olah, from the Poreč bar “Šandor”, deserved their respective first places in
the flambeau contests.
Pizzaiolos also had their favorites: Besim Čočaj, student
of Anton Štifanić Tourism and Hospitality School in Poreč, won in the
schools and companies contest; Anton Domizio from Kažun Pizzeria in Umag
was selected a winner in the pizzaiolo tradesmen contest.
Cold dish contest brought first place in the schools and
companies category to Mensura Škuljić, Ivan Selimović and Jovana Vujčić,
students from Mate Blažina High School from Labin; Darvorka Hrvatin from
the Orca restaurant in Rovinj, received the award in the tradesmen category.
Warm dish contest finalists in the schools and companies
category were Arian Rumin and Saša Ivančević from Anton Štifanić Tourist
and Trade School, while Davor Novoselić from Neptun in Rovinj submitted
the best warm dish.


Confectionery contest first place award was received by
Sandra Paoletić and Mate Terlević, students of the Tourism and Hospitality
School in Porec.
The best in the bakery contest award received Alex Šverko,
Buje Economic School student, in the schools and companies category,
while Marino Pilar (Marino Bakery in Gračišće).
In the group exhibition category, Association of Tradesmen
of Buzet received the award, while Karin Rupena (Valsabbion restaurant
in Pula) was acclaimed as the best sommelier.
In the ceremonial dinner and award giving ceremony that
took place in the Park Hotel, the hosts of the Taste of Istria enjoyed
Istrian culinary arts with the organizations (Business Chamber of the
Istrian County, Association of Hospitality Providers, Association of
Tradesmen in Rovinj; Giovanni Sponza, Mayor of Rovinj and Renzo Miletić,
president of Maistra department.
