Increasing quality of wines and olive oils of city of Rovinj and its surroundings

The wines of Rovinj are mildly alcoholic, light, easily drinkable and excellent with sea food specialties.

The quality of wines is improving with every passing year which was evident to all visitors of wine stand at the second gastronomic manifestation of Istria (istarski gastro) where they could taste two malvazia, teran, žuti muštat and modri pinot, all produced by vintners-Rudan, Vivoda, Folo and Šuran. According to Emil Perdec, national champion sommelier in the year 2004, modri pinot of Giannsandro Rudan, which is produced in a small quantity in Istria, is specially recognized for its outstanding quality.

Tasted olive oils of the city of Rovinj and its surroundings produced by Rino Šuran, Mladen Matošević, Damir Dobravac and Kristijan Damijanić were also presented. According to Damijanić, extra virgin olive oil, as well as wine, is of outstanding quality thanks to naturally obtained olives picked at the right time and tremendous effort of producers when refining olive oil.
