The Field Day 2006 Full of Fruits of the Land
All the splendor of the fruits and vegetables grown on Rovinj's agricultural estates could be seen and bought at Turnina, which has become a large outdoor fair for a day, for the requirements of the Field Day event.
Members of the Agrorovinj Association presented to the visitors what their hardworking hands have grown to feed the local man. All the proceeds of the fruits and vegetables sold were used for the benefit of the campaign for reconstruction of Istrian kažuns (stone walls).
While displaying the land's fruits, the members of the Association also presented a mini farm with silvery goats, horses and little donkeys, and they were also responsible for setting up an agricultural machinery fair at Turnina.
During the musical part of the program, which began in the evening, the audience was entertained by the members of the Cere Culture & Art Association, as well as Batana and Le Monde bands.
The first part of the event, held in the newly opened multimedia center, featured a number of interesting lectures concerning, among other things, protection of the Istrian buža, prosciutto and pork meat products, the autochthonous vine, virgin olive oil's connection with its geographic origin, and the Istrian bovine.
The Field Day was sponsored by the Istrian County, the Town of Rovinj and the Town Tourist Board. |
