Tastes of autumn in Rovinj

The last of many attractive tourist events organised all year long by the tourism and catering company Maistra and the town’s Tourist Board included a gastronomic offer of autumn fruits.

Gibonni and Aki saw the summer off

This year’s three day Rovinj night ended with the performance by two popular domestic musicians. Gibonni, the author of some of the best love songs, a composer and a singer performed songs from his best sold albums «Mirakul» and «Unca fibre» in front of the audience that crowded the town square.

Spectacular fireworks lit the sea and the old town core

Thirty minutes before midnight, the sound of rockets rushing to the sky made several thousand visitors to the famous Rovinj Night to look high up. When they reached the goal, the sky momentarily shone with thousands of sparks, thus announcing the beginning of spectacular and long-lasting fireworks, one of the most beautiful and oldest ones in the Mediterranean.

ROVINJ NIGHTS START ATTRACTIVELY BY LAUNCHING OF LILIANA

Rovinj Night, an event that has been organized for over two decades by the employees of the town Tourist Board and which has become not only a trademark of the most tourist town, but also its most expected event of the year they never failed to arrange, once again did not disappoint the numerous fans.

Kultfest - Brazilian show on the waterfront in Rovinj

On the second evening of Kultfest, the town's waterfront hosted the musicians and dancers from Brazil, known as the group Afoxe Loni.

“Common Bond” from Israel performed songs about love, friendship, peace…

As part of Kultfest (Cultural Festival), which was organized for the fifth year in a row and which promotes coexistence, multiculturalism and openness, the central square in Rovinj hosted the world-known Israeli musicians.

Concert “Ronald Braus and Guests”

Despite rain and stormy weather on the Assumption of Mary holiday on August 15, the eighth traditional concert “Ronald Braus and Guests” was held on the nearby island of St. Andrew by Rovinj.

Rovinj lit up by thousand candles

For the second year in a row, the workers of the Tourist Board organized a romantic evening in honor of St. Lawrence. It is a well-known fact that falling stars known as “the tears of St. Lawrence” can be seen on the sky on August 12th.

Grisia, the 42nd art exhibit under the sky

The most exciting day of the year, at least in the art sense, for forty two years has been the second Sunday in August. From dawn until dusk on that day, in the most beautiful and picturesque old town street of Rovinj, an exhibit under the sky, Grisia, is being held.

Rovinj Tradition an Inspiration to Fisherman Nights

The way our ancestors lived, what they ate and what they listened to was shown to the numerous guests of Rovinj, who gathered on the centre public square, by the workers of the Tourist Association with the help of the members of the “Batana House” Association, who organised the second Night of Fisherman Tradition this year.

Festival Sete Sóis Sete Luas, in 2008 celebrating its 16th edition, is promoted by a Cultural Network of 30 towns from 9 different countries: Cape Verde, Croatia, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Morrocco, Portugal, Spain.
It promotes projects of popular music, of theatre of road, of the plastic limbs, involving important personalities of European and Mediterranean culture.
The Festival got for two times the Kaleidoscope Prize from European Union, for the high European dimension and cultural quality of the project, for three time the Culture2000 Program, and for one time the Interreg IIIB Medocc Program.
The Honorary Presidents of the Festival are the Nobel Prize José Saramago and Dario Fo.

“SETE SOIS SETE LUAS” - (Seven Suns Seven Moons)

For the first time, thanks to employees of the town Tourist Association, Rovinj is one of the hosts of the International Festival of Mediterranean Folk Music named “Sete Sois Sete Luas” (Seven Suns Seven Moons). It is a festival which saw this year its 16th edition which is also promoted via Cultural network in as many as 30 towns and nine countries - Capo Verde, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Spain and Croatia.

FISHERMAN’S TRADITION NIGHT

For the third year in a row the Tourist Board of the Town of Rovinj organized the Fisherman’s Tradition Night, the event which last year won the Blue flower of the Croatian Tourist Association in the category of the most original events.

The 4th Summer Salsa Festival in Rovinj

Rovinj was the host of the three-day salsa festival for the fourth year in a row. The festival brought more than 700 students of this energetic and passionate Cuban dance to the city of St. Euphemia. The students, which came from all over the world, were taught by 18 foreign and 12 domestic instructors in the spaces of Maistra.

In the Centre of Visual Arts Batana

The 20th Art Photography Showroom was opened in the Centre of Visual Arts Batana. This year’s theme of the international showroom, which is being held as part of the 16th Mundial Photo Festival, is named “Science in Space,” and, as the name says, the photographs on display are dedicated to its exploration.

Stjepan Hauser’s Performance of Bach

Stjepan Hauser, one of the best Croatian cellists, gave a concert in the Church of St. Francis within the scope of Baromus - Rovinj’s Baroque Music Festival. The concert was called Hommage a Johann Sebastian Bach since this young and promising musician from the town of Pula selected a program consisting of Bach’s works.

4TH BA-RO-MUS FESTIVAL OPENS

The fourth consecutive baroque music festival Ba-Ro-Mus in Rovinj, conducted by music professor Domagoj Terzić, was formally opened by the performance of composer and guitarist Renato Rožić.

THE 14TH ECOLOGICAL ACTION ENDED WITH AN AWARDS CEREMONY - Let My Istra Shine

The fourteenth consecutive ecological action named “Let My Istra Shine” ended with an awards ceremony. The awards were presented for the best children literary and art works. The closing ceremony that took place in Palud Ornithological Park near Rovinj was attended by numerous guests.

THIRD TRADITIONAL LUGSAIL AND LATIN SAIL BOAT REGATTA HELD IN THE ROVINJ AQUATORIUM

The third traditional lugsail and Latin sail boat regatta was held in the waters surrounding Rovinj, in front of St. Catherine’s Island and the town port. In spite of the bad weather, the regatta gathered twenty-two boats from Slovenia (Izola and Portorož), Italy (Grad and Venice) and the host country represented by crews from the towns of Rovinj and Pula, the island of Rab and the nearby Mošćenička Draga.

THE FIRST NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL HELD IN ROVINJ

The city of St. Euphemia hosted the First national photography festival „Photodays 2008“. The selection committee presided by Tihomir Milovac had to select the best among 320 authors and five thousand photographs.

Joining Hands Once Again to Clean Rovinj’s Undersea Area

In cooperation with the Rovinj Underwater Activities Club and the Diver Sport Center - Rovinj, the Tourist Board organized the traditional eco-action aimed at cleaning Rovinj’s undersea area for the 17th time.

The Second Festival of Delicacies of Rovinj

For the upcoming season, the Rovinj Tourist Association has organised the Festival of Delicacies for the second year in a row. As opposed to the last year’s this year’s festival brought out more presenters as well as a richer and more diverse music programme.

Two encores for the performance by the Wind instrument Orchestra of the Music School Vatroslav Lisinski

This is the first hosting of the young and talented people, who came to the town of St. Euphemia after having held numerous concerts throughout Croatia from Samobor and Križevci to Delnice and Dubrovnik.

Towards the tourist season, a concert by Severina

Welcoming the arrival of the tourist season, the officials of the Tourist Board have organized a concert at their central Town square by one of the most popular national singers - Severina.

U ovogodišnjoj, 24. po redu tradicionalnoj Međunarodnoj jedriličarskoj regati „Rovinj-Pesaro -Rovinj“, sudjelovao je rekordan broj od 105 jedrilica.

For seven years in a row now, the Tourist Board of the City of Rovinj has been starting its spring series of ecological projects by handing out seedlings of local fruit species in cooperation with Skink, a company engaged in the production of seedlings, horticultural landscaping and professional assistance in the field of agriculture.

The Rovinj Tourist Association, in cooperation with the Open University and Maistra Hotel Company, has organized a diverse and extensive Easter program in Rovinj to treat its citizens and guests.
