Rovinj is also known by its magnificent sea view: from south-east to north-west there is not a single piece of land interrupting the view; the sea spreads to the infinity, sun is settling down into sea each night throughout the year, last rays sparkling in water on the sunny coast of west Istra _ La Costa del sole _ there are no cold shadows of hills, it gives joy to all of us, little people, with beautiful colors of sunset.

When south-east and north-west winds disturb the sea surface and waves come, crushing the rocks, that same sea, the ever living sea, gives yet another pleasure. At time like this, the air is so saturated with salt you can taste it in your mouth and every straw, every leaf feels salty. Each breath of such air gives benefit to your trough, lungs and nerves.

At time like this, sea is restless. Big and small fishing boats with their colorful sails cut the water around Rovinj. Sloops and steamers pass in great number. Vivid sea traffic from ant to Trieste goes along the west coast and leave impression of wealth.

Many of these ships stop in Rovinj, city port runs intense cargo and passenger steamer traffic from or towards north and south. The same is with train traffic – to or from the hinterland. Train station is in the north bay, in towns vicinity, by the sea. There is no lack of opportunities to travel to and from Rovinj.

In spite good traffic connections through land and sea, the beautiful position and good, healthy climate, Rovinj is mostly unknown. Reason for small number of guests or none at all, in this age of vivid migration from towns towards coast, are easy to spot. There are no accommodation facilities. Two or three existing inns are not enough for that. If a good hotel should be built here, Rovinj would surely become one of the most popular destination on the coast. In several occasions Rovinj was recognized as a place of prospect.

Some 20 years ago, at initiative from Vienna, sea spa St. Pelagia was built in the north bay. It gave good financial results through the hole year, so, shortly after , town of Vienna took over and bought entire peninsula "la Muccia" that surrounds the bay. Spa enlarged and now Viennan doctors provide during summer and winter for at least 400 children, which is almost twice more then before.

In that same bay, not far from town, Berlin aquarium founded some years ago a scientific institute. At first it was small and then it grew and got better equipment due to satisfying results. It gets annual subvention from German Empire, 30000 marks, and offers German and other scientists and students possibility for scientific research and enriching collections.
